The birth of a relatively large law firm is a rare event, but Pierson Ferdinand, a new law firm headquartered in New York, has been launched by Tiffany Comprés and Gene M. Burd, (pictured) former legal leaders at FisherBroyles.
The firm marks a significant debut in U.S. legal history with over 130 lawyers joining from FisherBroyles – virtually half FisherBroyles lawyers.
The spinoff firm is one of the largest such launches in US legal history.
Pierson Ferdinand will operate as a so-called ‘distributed firm’ with all its lawyers as partners. It intends to have 80 practice areas across its corporate, litigation and intellectual property departments withlocations in 15 states along with a planned London office to open in the first quarter of 2024.
Comprés, an expert in international arbitration and litigation, is particularly skilled in agriculture, food, and energy sectors while Burd specializes in international disputes and has substantial experience in various sectors including finance and biotech.
Compres (left) is one of only three attorneys board-certified as experts in international law and international arbitration and litigation by The Florida Bar. She regularly works in English, Spanish, and French. She practices in all of the world’s major arbitration centers and under all the major rules
Pierson Ferdinand, co-chaired by Michael Pierson and Joel Ferdinand, operates as a distributed firm with a full-service approach, covering over 80 practice areas.
